Camera Obscura is foundation for my Photography Business

Many of you may wonder why I incorporated as Obscura for my photography business. Here is Clue.

The camera obscura is an optical device used, for example, in drawing or for entertainment. It is one of the inventions leading to Photography. The principle can be demonstrated with a box with a hole in one side (any sized box from matchbox to room-sized or even larger) Light from a scene passes through the hole and strikes a surface where it is reproduced, in color, and upside-down. Camera is Latin for “room” and Obscura is Latin for “dark.”

This Camera Obscura is located in San Francisco, CA directly in front of the Cliff House restaurant on the Pacific ocean.  It is a rare device, based on a 15th century design by Leonardo da Vinci. It produces 360 degrees of spectacular Live Images of the Seal Rock Area.  It is also listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

"Passion & Profession"

pass2 As a creative person I can’t recommend highly enough ASMP’s event “Passion & Profession.” Held on the shores of Lake Geneva at the George Williams College of Aurora University in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. This image was made at midnight on the group tour of Yerkes Observatory. Home of the worlds largest refractor telescope. This 100 year old facility is operated by the University of Chicago and is “the birthplace of modern astrophysics.” Many thanks to ASMP, all of the presenters, and Sponsors for another amazing retreat!
